We have linked over 150 million records from 50 routinely linked datasets, creating one of the most comprehensive linkage systems in the world.

Data Linkage Strategy

The WA Health Data Linkage Strategy 2022-24, launched by the Honourable Minister Stephen Dawson in May 2023, is a plan to reform, modernise, simplify and improve access to health data, informing research that will ultimately benefit patients and the Western Australian community. We are committed to maintaining privacy, and have developed and deployed multiple privacy protocols to ensure best practice procedures are supported at all stages of data integration and delivery.


The use of personal information requires strict technological and physical security measures.


The Department of Health WA Human Research Ethics Committee has responsibility for oversight of the use and disclosure of personal health information.
